Labor Day weekend marked a significant birthday for me as I entered a new decade of my life. Meeting and celebrating with family and friends in so many places, traveling from the Chicagoland area, to Detroit then up to the Mackinaw Bridge for the annual Labor Day walk from St. Ignace to Mackinaw City…those three days truly energized and renewed my being! This week, I return to SCORE, renewed and refreshed to work with the children preparing for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.
This year I welcome 33 children to Level 2 SCORE, a significant year of faith formation, as the children and their parents actively prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Looking at the size of this year’s class, and after several conversations with Sr. Christina, St. Nick’s DRE (Director of Religious Education), an organic structure began to emerge… form a sacramental prep team to facilitate small learning communities where children spend 25 minutes and move to the next learning station. Each station will focus on a particular learning modality of a core theme with art, drama, prayer, story and core content. The plan in place, the sacramental prep team in place….here we go to welcome our children and parents.
Stay Tuned for those weekly updates.
